Kipevu Oil Terminal (KOT) is an offshore island terminal within the port of Mombasa, Kenya. The main construction works of the project include dredging of the harbour basin and processing of the submarine oil pipeline. Due to the large number of water operations and construction vessels involved in the project, with a dredging volume of over 10 million cubic metres, the local government and civil society organizations are highly concerned about marine environmental protection.

Based on the characteristics of the port construction and the identification of environmental factors, the project unit carried out thorough green construction planning work and formulated a number of effective technical measures to achieve the protection of the marine ecological environment, such as adopting non-traditional water sources, sprinkling water to reduce dust, installing noise isolation panels, adjusting the mud throwing area, recycling waste materials from the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway and centralizing the recycling of used oil.
