Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway

At 11: 00 local time on May 31, 2017, the first passenger train of Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which was built by China Road and Bridge, a subsidiary of CCCG started, marking the official completion and opening of the SGR. The Kenya government held a grand opening ceremony at Mombasa Terminus. Chinese President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy and State Councilor Wang Yong, and Kenya President Kenyatta attended the opening ceremony. The railway, with a total length of about 480 kilometers, is the initial section of the East African Railway Network, which was built by China Road and Bridge with China's class I railroad standard. All the projects adopt Chinese standards, equipment, technology and management, which has created a new mode of full industry chain cooperation of Chinese railways in overseas market.
