Ever seen a terminal busy operating without a person there? Sitting in the control tower, one can easily control the huge machines' operation on the terminal. We're talking about Phase IV Yangshan Deep-water Port in Shanghai, the world's largest automated container terminal.
The project covers an area of 2.23 million square meters. The machinery used in loading and unloading, including the bridge cranes, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and rail-mounted gantry cranes, are all made by our subsidiary ZPMC. It adopts the Equipment Control System (ECS) developed by ZPMC and the Terminal Operating System (TOS). The port will help consolidate Shanghai port's standing as the world's busiest container port and further support Shanghai's efforts to become a world shipping center. Stay tuned to our "Port Glamour" series for more wonderful, unmanned container terminals.
