Suramadu Bridge in Indonesia
The longest cross-sea bridge in Southeast Asia at the time of its opening
Located in Surabaya, East Java, the bridge spans a total length of 5.4 kilometers, featuring an 818-meter cable-stayed main bridge with a width of 30 meters. Since its official opening in June 2009, the bridge has handled a continuous flow of vehicles, significantly facilitating local socioeconomic development. The construction of the bridge validated the applicability of Chinese engineering standards in volcanic ash foundations and high-intensity seismic zones, providing valuable experience for future bridge construction in Indonesia while cultivating local technical talent.
