Penang Second Bridge in Malaysia

The longest cross-sea bridge in Southeast Asia

Located south of the existing Penang Bridge, the project connects Batu Maung (Penang Island) and Batu Kawan (Seberang Perai), spanning approximately 24.5 kilometers. Its main cross-sea section is a twin-tower, three-span cable-stayed bridge. Opened to traffic in March 2014, the bridge slashed the travel time between the two locations by nearly 70%. Serving as another model infrastructure project under China-Malaysia cooperation, this bridge and the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) are widely recognized for their monumental engineering impacts.
