Third Runway Project at Hong Kong International Airport

The largest infrastructure initiative in Hong Kong

Located north of the Hong Kong International Airport, construction of the third runway began in August 2016, involving approximately 650 hectares of land reclamation. The project was put into operation in late November 2024, significantly improving the airport's capacity, consolidating Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub, and supporting socioeconomic development. By 2030, the airport's annual passenger traffic is projected to surge from 39.5 million in 2023 to 120 million, while annual cargo volume will grow from 4.3 million tons to 10 million tons.
