Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway in Kenya

A key driver of growth for Kenya and East Africa

Connecting Mombasa and the capital Nairobi in Kenya, the standard gauge railway spans 472 kilometers, primarily handling freight while also offering passenger services. The project was put into operation on May 31, 2017, slashing the road travel time between Nairobi and Mombasa from over 10 hours to approximately 5 hours. Offering high speed, enhanced safety, and lower travel costs, the railway rapidly emerged as the preferred mode of transportation for the public.
