The bridge was put into operation in April 2009. With a total length of 1,741 meters and a 932-meter main bridge, its 552-meter main span led the world among similar structures at the time, establishing a milestone in China's bridge engineering history. The double-deck main bridge supports a dual six-lane highway on the upper level and rail transit on the lower level.
