Putting Life First to Safeguard River Basin

The Nam Lik 1-2 hydropower project in Laos has established 400 safety management systems and standards, conducted regular inspections, improved prevention mechanisms, and engaged in safety advocacy activities within local communities, including open days at the dam. The project team has explored the establishment of a government-enterprise-resident collaborative emergency mechanism, safeguarding the tranquility of the river basin. Since its commissioning, the power station has operated safely for more than 4800 days without accidents or casualties, delivering over 6.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the Lao power grid, fundamentally changing the history of recurring floods in downstream villages.
