Concilia works with CRBC's Afristar. As the first locomotive driver in Kenya, she tells her story with the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway.
"I am from Kenya, and I have been fascinated by railway transportation since my childhood. However, my passion remained unfulfilled until the advent of the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway," she says.
Thanks to a scholarship from CRBC, Concilia received advanced training in China, honing her skills and expanding her knowledge. "I am proud to say that upon completing my training, I became the first female locomotive driver in Kenya and the only one with an independent operation mileage exceeding 140,000 kilometers. I believe that in the future, I will continue to play a greater role in the field of railway transportation and make more contributions to the development of Kenya," she says.
The Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway not only holds immense significance for the people of Kenya but also plays a vital role in connecting the entire East African region.
