The "Travelogue of China" international media communication activity, launched in May 2023, invites international journalists to explore China's rich historical and cultural heritage and modern technological advancements, transforming their experiences into news reports that vividly convey China's true stories and images to the world. As part of this program, international media delegations visited CCCC to delve into CCCC's innovations in "big transportation" and "big cities" sectors.

From September 7 to 10, 2023, 17 journalists from 13 countries, including Pakistan, Timor-Leste, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea, visited Chengdu for an in-depth tour and exchange on CCCC-led projects along the Jinjiang River. These projects focused on ecological restoration and greenway development, giving visitors a firsthand look at the city's "park city" model and Chengdu's hallmark urban developments.

Smart Robot for Garbage Collection on Water Surfaces

Smart Water Management

CCCC's smart robots autonomously navigate water surfaces, removing floating debris with greater efficiency and endurance than manual collection. These robots also monitor water quality and flow in real-time, functioning as the "eyes" of the smart water management platform. This platform, a benchmark in intelligent water management, has significantly improved Jinjiang's water quality, benefiting a population of 20 million in the region.

Chengdu Tianfu Greenway

Painting the World's Longest Greenway

The Jinjiang Greenway serves as the central "spine" of the world's largest greenway system, the Tianfu Greenway, which has reached a full 220 kilometers of connectivity. It features 11 waterfront walking streets and 25 unique neighborhoods, linking 23 parks and 170 countryside scenic spots.

The greenway system has also fostered the development of themed districts, like the "trunk market" on Sanse Road, a street integrating food, exercise, leisure, and shopping. The Zhanqi Village Greenway, an essential segment of the Jinjiang Greenway, offered reporters insights into China's rural revitalization efforts, with the village now seen as a model for rural governance.

“Night Tour of the Jinjiang River

Appreciating Urban Aesthetics

In 2018, CCCC launched Chengdu's first nighttime cultural tourism experience—the Night Tour of Jinjiang River. This project has transformed the riverbanks with vibrant lighting installations, creating a captivating experience for visitors as they sail along the river.

By mid-2023, the tour had welcomed 1.34 million visitors and now stands as an exemplary model for immersive cultural tourism experiences.

I've observed the extensive efforts China is making to address climate change and global warming. The water purification system used in the ecological toilets at the River Bank Park along the Jinjiang River is a prime example of a practical solution. If similar systems were adopted globally, it would help build a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

The planning here is exceptional, combining modern facilities with ecological elements. Passing through the park, I saw locals dancing, skateboarding, and exercising. People can live sustainably in this area, truly showcasing the charm of this livable city. The Chengdu Tianfu Greenway is a perfect blend of biking paths and greenery. I thoroughly enjoyed riding here.

I'll bring the insights from this trip back to our President and Prime Minister. It was an exceptional opportunity and a great honor to share the hospitality and friendliness of the Chinese people, witnessing a unique China.

The scenery along the way is delightful! If any friends visit Chengdu, I will definitely recommend this world-class green corridor for a cycling experience.

Question: Pakistan faces issues of water scarcity and unequal water distribution. Are there measures to address this?

Answer: From the perspective of raw water, the first approach is capacity expansion and reservoir construction. Reclaimed water resources in Chengdu can be used for irrigation and daily needs. Additionally, coastal cities in China are actively exploring seawater desalination as a solution for potable water.
