Amare Kassa

From Ethiopia/Lathe Operator

Since joining CCCC in 2001, Kassa has become a workshop technician from an apprentice, and has participated in the preplanning and preparations of the equipment and spare parts for 8 projects including the Metu-Gambela road and several municipal roads in Bahir Dar, and has taken charge of the repair and maintenance of the equipment. He has repaired and maintained large equipment 15 times, led and trained 26 local machinery maintenance workers to solve more than 1,000 urgent and difficult problems in an innovated way and avoid economic losses of more than one million yuan for the projects.

Proclaimed by many truck drivers to be one of the best quality roads in Ethiopia, the Metu-Gambela road provides one of the smoothest traveling experiences you can find in the country. The road has a length of 54.98 kilometers.

Evanger Coscia Filho

From Brazil/Mechanical Engineer

Evanger became the first Brazilian employee of ZPMC's South American subsidiary in 2016. With his efforts, the number of ZPMC's spare parts customers in South America increased from 5 to 22 in five years, and the sales of spare parts also reached 4.5 million US dollars. In 2021, Evanger successfully sold ZPMC-made port machinery spare parts to the only container wharf in Brazil without ZPMC equipment, which opened up the sales of ZPMC's machinery. He also has a professional qualification of safety engineering in Brazil, and has made outstanding contributions to the safety of project production and the project team.

Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) is one of the world's heavy-duty port machinery manufacturers. Its products are sold in more than 100 countries and regions around the world, covering about 300 ports. In 1996, ZPMC entered the Brazilian market and has so far supplied 62 quay cranes, 87 yard cranes and port equipment such as ship unloaders and gantry cranes to various Brazilian ports.

Lau Chong Cheng

From Malaysia/Deputy General Manager of Market Development Department of CCCC's subsidiary in Malaysia

Lau Chong Cheng has both commercial and technical skills and is very familiar with local technical standards and specifications. He has participated in the following up, qualification examinations, tender negotiations and post-tender negotiations of more than 100 projects in total, and successfully won more than ten key projects such as the MRT Line 2 in Kuala Lumpur. As an overseas Chinese and an employee of a Chinese-funded enterprise, he took the initiative to serve as a cultural exchange envoy between the two countries, actively spreading Chinese culture, promoting CCCC's contributions, and enhancing the brand influence of the company in the local market.

With 10 stations along the line, the MRT Line 2 in Kuala Lumpur is 52.2 km long, of which 13.5 km are underground. When completed and opened to traffic, it will greatly alleviate traffic congestion in the Kuala Lumpur area and will have a significant impact on the sustainable development of the public transportation system in the area.

Iqbal Fauzi

From Indonesia/Project Manager

Iqbal is managing more than 300 Indonesian managers and workers. In the past 5 years since joining CCCC, Iqbal has participated in the construction of the Indonesia Java No. 7 Power Plant Wharf and the terminal of the PT. MNA Jetty Phase 1. Iqbal has promoted Chinese craftsmanship, played the advantage of his local background, and built a bridge of communication linking the government and neighboring residents. After the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the project faced a staff shortage, so Iqbal volunteered to undertake the sub-project of the approach bridge of the supporting wharf of the PT. MNA Jetty Phase 1 and organized a localized construction team to ensure the project's quality and efficient implementation. "I thank the company for giving me valuable knowledge and experience, which will benefit me for a lifetime and I will try my best to show the good life of local staff," said Iqbal.

The supporting wharf of the PT. MNA Jetty Phase 1 is the largest bulk cargo terminal in Indonesia's Serang region and will become the largest grain and cooking oil industrial park in Indonesia after completion. The project is approximately 2 km away from the Java No. 7 Power Plant under construction. The construction includes the retention pond dredging, the quay platform, the quay breakwater, roads and electrical works.

Jennifer Denisse Croston Gardellini

From Panama/Assistant to Chief Legal Counsel and Deputy Manager of Commercial Law Department, CHEC (Americas)

Since she joined CHEC in 2016, she has been deeply involved in the commercial legal work in many countries in the Americas, and played an important role in the commercial negotiations of major projects such as the First Metro Line of Bogota project in Colombia, Mexico's Mayan Train project and the 4th Bridge over the Panama Canal, making positive contributions to the development of CCCC in Latin America.

The First Metro Line of Bogota project, with a total length of 23.96 kilometers, is the largest municipal and livelihood project in Colombia, and a model of win-win cooperation between China and Colombia. The project has fulfilled the 70-year dream of Bogota citizens for a subway and will greatly improve the travel and livelihood of Bogota citizens after its completion. The project adopts the highest-level automated driverless system—the UTO fully automated driverless system. The project includes the construction of 16 stations and the procurement of 30 metro cars.

Concilia Owire

From Kenya/Driver Instructor of Mombasa-Nairobi SGR

Concilia Owire has been working in CCCC for 6 years. After graduation, she became the first batch of drivers of Kenya's Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway, which attracted the attention of the leaders of China and Kenya. She has been driving safely for more than 140,000 kilometers, and became a household name in Kenya. She helped 120 Kenyan locomotive attendants to study and pass the promotion examination and made outstanding contributions to the company's localized operation. "I am very grateful to CRBC for giving me the opportunity to work for the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway and making my dream come true," she said.

The Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway is Kenya's flagship project to achieve the Kenya Vision 2030, and the largest infrastructure project since Kenya's independence. The project is built and operated by CRBC. The project started in December 2014, was completed two and a half years ahead of schedule, and was officially opened to traffic in May 2017. It was awarded the 2018 ENR Global Best Projects Awards in the rail category.

Leon Kossivi

From Togo/Manager Assistant, Dakar BRT Project

During the past 10 years, Kossivi has participated in the construction of many landmark projects of China-Africa cooperation, such as Lomé Bypass Road, Thies-Touba Toll Highway Project in Senegal, and the Dakar Bus Rapid Transit Pilot (BRT) project. He has grown from an ordinary interpreter to a senior project manager with excellent professional competences, and has integrated his ideal pursuit and career into China-Africa cooperation and the building of the Belt and Road Initiative, contributing his wisdom and strength to promoting the development of CCCC's globalization.

  • Thies-Touba Toll Highway Project is the largest infrastructure project in Senegal since its independence. It is approximately 113-km-long highway with four lanes and a design speed of 130 km/h. The project won the 2019 ENR Global Best Projects Awards in the road category.

  • The BRT project is the first electrified bus rapid transit project in sub-Saharan Africa. The project connects the coastal city of Gediawaya with the center of Dakar, with a total length of 18.3km and 23 bus stations. After the completion of the project, the travel time between the two places will be shortened from 90 minutes to 45 minutes with an average capacity of 300,000 passengers per day. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 60,000 tons per year.

Andjelka Alavanja

From Serbia/Translator

She is fluent in Chinese, Serbian, English and Russian. During her 6 years of service, Angela has worked on many projects, including the Montenegro North-South Expressway, the E763 Highway Project in Serbia and the Peljesac Bridge in Croatia. During this period, she participated in the preparations for more than 10 biddings, translated and proofread dozens of Montenegrin, European and Serbian specifications, and assisted in the translation and proofreading of feasibility reports, worked on drawings, instructions, subcontracts and other documents for more than 300 times. She has made positive contributions to speeding up the process of the projects' localization and promoting cross-cultural communication by removing language barriers.

  • As an important infrastructure project within the framework of China-CEE cooperation, the Montenegro North-South Expressway is 40.8 km long, with a bridge and tunnel ratio reaching 60%. It is the first expressway in the history of Montenegro.

  • The E763 Highway Project in Serbia, with a total length of about 300 kilometers, is an important link between Serbia and the sea port of Montenegro, as well as a major transport artery linking the Balkans and neighboring countries. Several sections of the highway have been completed and opened to traffic.

  • The total length of the Peljesac Bridge is 3.94 kilometers, of which the bridge is 2,440 meters long. The main bridge is an extradosed cable-stayed bridge with six towers, a single central cable plane, and a box girder deck. After its completion, the Croatia’s northern and the southern parts will be connected as a whole, which will strongly relieve regional traffic pressure and promote economic development along the route.

Kassapa

Kassapa studied in China from 2003 to 2008 and has a warm feeling towards China. Kassapa has maintained close contact with local mainstream media and public relations agencies. As a spokesperson of the Port City Colombo project in Sri Lanka, Kassapa has made several communication activities for the project, telling the stories of Chinese and Sri Lankan builders and promoting cultural integration between China and Sri Lank. Kassapa planned and implemented communication activities such as "Fishermen's Livelihood Improvement Program", "National Solidarity Tour" and "Cloud Open Day", which greatly enhanced the brand image of CCCC. During the epidemic, Kassapa coordinated the donation of supplies, which was highly praised by the government and the public, and helped to enhance the image of China and the brand value of CCCC.

Covering an area of 269 hectares, the Port City Colombo project is one of the key projects of the building of the Belt and Road Initiative and an important achievement of cooperation between China and Sri Lanka. After its completion, the project will become a commercial, financial and leisure tourism center in South Asia, which will play a positive role in Sri Lanka's economic development, improving people's livelihood and enhancing Sri Lanka's regional influence.

In 2021, Concremat was ranked 30th among the most innovative companies in 2021 by Valor Econômico, a well-known Brazilian media, 41 ranks ahead of its ranking in the last year.

The mobile software for project inspection management—Stant, developed by the team led by Guilherme de Lima, can complete project information entry and report generation online, saving nearly 80% of work time, and has been successfully applied to important projects of the Vale Group and the Brazilian Federal Government, and has been widely acclaimed. The digital twin technology developed by him and his team is focused on bridge project management and has been applied to the projects such as the Salvador–Itaparica cable-stayed bridge in Brazil, reducing project expenses by 10-25%.
