The Lingdingyang Bay, the largest estuary of the Pearl River, is the largest habitat for Chinese white dolphins, known as "giant pandas in the sea". In order to protect the white dolphins, the project department has made adjustment in bridge design, construction, and project management. After the completion of the main body of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the number of white dolphins has increased. The construction of the bridge thus has achieved the goals of "zero pollution" of the marine environment and "zero casualties" of white dolphins.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the world's longest sea crossing bridge, was opened to traffic on 23 October 2018. CCCC constructed the majority of the immersed tube tunnel, the east and west artificial islands, the Qingzhou navigation channel bridge, the artificial islands at the port, and the sections in Hong Kong and Macau, accounting for over 70% of the main works. The bridge was named one of the 'New Seven Wonders of the World' by The Guardian. During the construction of the immersed tube tunnel, CCCCers have completed more than 100 experimental studies, developed more than 10 world-leading special equipment and systems, obtained more than 500 patents, and overcome more than 10 world-class engineering problems in the installation of offshore immersed tubes. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge uses the equivalent of 60 Eiffel Towers in steel alone and is capable of resisting earthquakes of magnitude 8 and typhoons of over 16.
