Several tunnels built by CCCC have recently achieved significant progress.
Genting TBM 2 has surpassed 6,000-meter mark
The twin-bore Genting Tunnel on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project saw a breakthrough in tunnel boring machine (TBM) excavation, with the Genting TBM 2 surpassing the 6,000-meter mark. This tunnel spans 16.4 kilometers and is a crucial project for the entire ECRL project, employing two TBMs for construction. Once completed, it will greatly facilitate travel between the east and west coasts of Malaysia, promoting economic and trade development in the region.
Excavation of Serbia's longest tunnel reaches 3,000-meter mark
The longest tunnel in Serbia, the tunnel Iriški venac of the Novi Sad-Ruma Expressway Project, has achieved an excavation of over 3,000 meters, completing more than 42% of the overall excavation.
This expressway, spanning 16.48 kilometers, connects the second-largest Serbian city, Novi Sad, with the emerging industrial town, Ruma. The tunnel Iriški venac, with a total length of 7,062 meters, traverses through numerous fractured and rugged zones and presents significant environmental challenges due to its location within a national nature reserve, but its completion will greatly enhance transportation networks in northern Serbia, fostering regional development.
Excavation reaches 16-kilometer mark at the main tunnel of the entrance section of the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel
Recently, the excavation of the main tunnel of the entrance section of the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel in Xinjiang's Urumqi-Yuli Expressway surpassed 16 kilometers (with the left tunnel excavating 8,220 meters and the right tunnel excavating 7,795 meters), completing over seventy percent of the overall excavation.
The tunnel serves as a critical artery for the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway, spanning a total length of 22.13 kilometers and ranking as the world's longest highway tunnel under construction. Upon the completion of the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway, the travel time from Urumqi to Korla will be reduced from over 6 hours to 3 hours, signifying its crucial role in promoting economic development in both northern and southern Xinjiang.
