By then, the travel time between Zhongshan and Shenzhen will be reduced from two hours to within half an hour, effectively promoting transportation and economic development between the two regions.

On June 10, the final pipe section of the undersea tunnel in the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, constructed by CCCC's First Harbor Engineering, was successfully installed. This marks the completion of the world's longest and widest undersea immersed tunnel and the first-ever eight-lane undersea tunnel.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel has a total length of 24 kilometers and is a super cross-sea cluster project integrating tunnels, islands, bridges, and underwater interchanges. The subsea tunnel, one of the key projects along the route, has a total length of 6,845 meters. The immersed tube section spans 5,035 meters and consists of 32 pipe sections and one final joint. The final joint, E23, is an irregularly shaped pipe section measuring 165 meters in length and weighing approximately 80,000 tons.
The subsea tunnel utilized 2 integrated vessels for construction. The powerful intelligent construction capabilities of these vessels enabled rapid dry-docking, safe transportation, precise positioning, and accurate installation of the immersed tubes, achieving new breakthroughs in subsea tunnel construction worldwide.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in 2024. By then, the travel time between Zhongshan and Shenzhen will be reduced from two hours to within half an hour, effectively promoting transportation and economic development between the two regions.
