Total traffic volume of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway exceeds 3 million

The expressway greatly reduces logistics costs, facilitates the people's travel.

As of 9 am, May 21, 2023, as the three millionth vehicle entered the toll station in Phnom Penh, the total traffic volume of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway exceeds 3 million after 233-day operation.
This year, the traffic flow of the expressway is about 13,500 vehicles per day and the maximum single-day traffic volume exceeded 25,000. Over 43,000 vehicles are using the ETC system, with the share of ETC users increasing from 5% at the beginning of operation to 32%.
During the 32nd Southeast Asian Games from May 5 to 17, some matches were held in Sihanoukville, the terminus of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway. Vehicle trips from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, or from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh has significantly increased, reaching 15,124 vehicles per day, up 14.2 percent compared to the volume before the opening of the SEA Games. CRBC, the operator of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, ensured that athletes from different countries and citizens are safe on the trip by adopting well-conceived measures and improving expressway's emergency response capacity.
After the completion of the expressway, the driving time from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville is shortened from more than 5 hours to less than 2 hours, which greatly reduces logistics costs and facilitates the people's travel. It has become an essential road to help boost economic and social development of Cambodia. Now, more and more local people share pictures or videos about the expressway on Facebook, Tik Tok and other social media platforms.
