The Chinese-built Belgrade-Novi Sad high-speed railway marked its first anniversary on March 19th, having transported nearly 3 million people between Serbia's two largest cities since operation in 2022.

Recently, the first anniversary of the operation of the Belgrade-Novi Sad section (hereinafter referred to as the Benoy section) of the Hungarian-Serbian railway in Serbia, which was jointly built by CCCC, was held in Novi Sad.
Since the Benoy section opened to traffic, the maximum speed of the train has increased from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour to 200 kilometers per hour, which has greatly improved the quality and efficiency of transportation and thus become the first choice of the local people for travel, with a significant increase in the number of passengers transported. Over the past year, more than 50 mobile trains have been operated every day, with the highest daily sending of 14,400 passengers and a total of more than 2.93 million passengers transported.
The Hungarian-Serbian Railway is the first project to connect China’s railway technical equipment with the technical specifications of EU railway interconnection, connecting Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, and Budapest, the capital of Hungary. With a total length of 341.7 kilometers, the Hungarian-Serbian railway is a passenger and freight co-line double-line electrified railway. On March 19th, 2022, the Benoy section, with a total length of about 80 kilometers, was put into operation. Since then, the travel time of trains between Belgrade and Novi Sad has been shortened from more than 90 minutes to about 30 minutes, promoting rapid economic and social development along the route.
