In the future, 24 more AGVs will join the cross-border transportation, jointly assisting in making Ganqimaodu a modern, green, safe, intelligent and efficient port.
With the wind howling and temperatures dropping to below minus ten degrees Celsius, at the largest land port between China and Mongolia, Ganqimaodu in Inner Mongolia, several trucks filled with goods are orderly lined up while drivers patiently wait for clearance. They all turn their attention to six unmanned automated guided vehicles (AGVs) transporting goods without a driver, designed and manufactured by CCCC's subsidiary—ZPMC. These driverless vehicles clearly have the advantage of low labor costs, no need for various customs clearance procedures, and real-time declaration during operation, greatly improving the efficiency of clearance and cargo handling.
ZPMC's unmanned driving technology has been successfully applied to several automated terminals such as Qingdao Port, Yangshan Port in Shanghai, and Nansha Port in Guangzhou. However, this is the first time for it to be used for cross-border goods transportation. The trial of these six AGVs also marks the official entry of ZPMC's products into the 106th country globally.
To prevent collisions between cranes, forklifts, and equipment during the loading and unloading, ZPMC has specially added an automated safety interlocking function to ensure the safety of equipment and personnel. ZPMC has also developed a hybrid power system of "diesel engine + lithium battery" for these AGVs. The main components are also equipped with insulation and warming technologies to ensure that the vehicles can operate normally in extreme weather conditions of minus 40 degrees Celsius.
On January 18 this year, Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan visited the six new vehicles and affirmed the AGVs' operation.
