The award evaluates the project from 4 perspectives: engineering design and construction, innovation, sustainability and quality management. The project achieved the highest scores in the four aspects. 

The Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link Project is located in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong, with a total length of about 1.8 kilometers and is designed as a two-way two-lane carriageway. It is a double-arch steel bridge resembling a floating butterfly, with a span of 200 meters and a deck width of 35.8 meters.

The 12,000-ton bridge was installed by the float-over method, a breakthrough in bridge construction in Hong Kong. The project also used S690QL high-strength steel, precast bridge elements, prefabricating segmented beams, prefabricated circular steel cofferdams and other innovative methods, so that the project schedule was significantly shortened, safety and environmental protection were significantly improved; Building Information Model, Common Data Environment and Geographic Information System, 5G, cloud technology, Internet of Things, 3D Laser Scanning, UAV Survey and other new technologies are used during the construction to digitalize, informationize and automate project management and construction.

Upon completion, the project will be another landmark bridge in Hong Kong after the Tsing Ma Bridge and the Stonecutters Bridge, providing a fast access linking the city center and the southeastern region of Tseung Kwan O.
