Nigeria's Lekki Deep Sea Port completed

Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu said, the port will effectively release Nigeria's development potential of economy.

Recently, a completion ceremony was held in Lagos State, the economic center of Nigeria, for the Lekki Deep Sea Port invested and operated by CHEC, a subsidiary of CCCC, with the attendance of Cui Jianchun, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mustapha Tunde Mukaila, Director of Regions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu said that the port will make Lagos a maritime logistics center in West and Central Africa, and provide nearly 200,000 direct and indirect jobs for Nigeria in the coming years, effectively releasing Nigeria's development potential of economy.
The port is located in the Lagos Free Zone built by China and Nigeria, and construction started in June 2020. The construction includes 2 container berths, 1 tugboat terminal, a 2.7-kilometer-long breakwater and revetment, a harbor basin and a 9 kilometer-long navigation channel, and 470,000 square meters of land area construction. The port can accommodate ships with a capacity of 18,000 TEU, and the annual design capacity of the port is 1.2 million TEU. This modern deep sea port has also become one of the largest ports in West Africa.
