On October 21, the last standard pipe section E22 of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link constructed by CCCC's First Harbor Engineering was docked with E21 with zero deviation, and the total length of immersed tunnel reached 4867.8 meters.
Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is a cross-sea tunnel consisting of bridge, island, tunnel and underwater channel. The undersea tunnel is 6845 meters long. Its immersed section is 5035 meters long, consisting of 32 tube sections and one final joint, and is the widest undersea immersed tunnel in the world. Since the first pipe section was installed in June 2020, a total of 31 pipe sections have been installed, including E1-E22 pipe section on the west side and E32-E24 pipe section on the east side.
The E22 section is 165 meters long, 46 meters wide, 10.6 meters high and weighs about 80,000 tons. The successful installation of E22 also provides reliable experience for the installation of the final joint. The construction of the project has entered the final stage, and is advancing the production and installation practice of the final joint (E23).
After the opening of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the driving time from Shenzhen to Zhongshan will be reduced to about 20 minutes, which is of great significance in promoting interconnection among cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and accelerating the integrated development of the cities in the bay area.
