On August 5, the installation of the last immersed pipe section—E18 section of the Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel, the first large-scale cross-sea immersed tunnel in northern China, was successfully completed by First Harbor Engineering of CCCC. So far, the installation of immersed pipe sections in Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel has been completed.
It took 20 months to complete the precise installation of 18 pipe sections, creating a new record for installation speed in the history of cross-sea immersed pipe tunnels, further consolidating China's leading position in cross-sea immersed pipe tunnel construction in the world.
Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel is another super project in China after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge with high technical requirements, complex construction environment and high environmental requirements. The immersed section of the project is 3035 meters long and consists of 18 immersed pipe sections. Each pipe section weighs about 60,000 tons and the curve radius reaches 1050 meters, which is the largest curvature and smallest radius curve section in China.
The E18 pipe section is the most difficult one to install in the whole line. The project team optimized the layout plan of the anchor system many times according to the environment, and made detailed deployment of the follow-up work after the completion of the installation to achieve a smooth installation.
According to the plan, the docking of the final joint of the tunnel and the E18 pipe section will be implemented at the end of August or the beginning of September. By then, the main body of the subsea section of the Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel and the extension of the Guangming Road project will be completed.
