Recently, the Sri Jaya Tunnel, or 11# Tunnel, of the East Coast Rail Link, constructed by CCCC, was completed. The owner, Malaysian Rail Link (MRL), representatives of the supervisor and the project manager of CCCC attended the tunnel completion ceremony.
Sri Jaya Tunnel is located in Pahang, Malaysia, a two-lane single-hole tunnel with a design length of 918 meters, a maximum depth of 68 meters and a minimum depth of less than 2 meters. The tunnel has shallow depth with poor stability of the surrounding rock. During the construction, the project team overcame the impact of the epidemic and construction difficulties during the rainy season, continuously optimized the design and construction scheme, reasonably arranged the production schedule, paid close attention to the safety and quality, and finally achieved the smooth passage of the tunnel.
The completion of Tunnel 11 has laid a good foundation for the construction and production of the whole East Coast Rail Link in 2022.
The CCCC East Coast Rail Link project is by far the largest economic and trade cooperation project in the history of China and Malaysia, a flagship project along the "Belt and Road Initiative", and marked the first time for Chinese railroad standards being used in Malaysia. When completed, it will be of great significance to drive the economic development of the East Coast region of Malaysia.
