On March 1st, Kenyan President William Ruto attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Talanta Sports City in Nairobi undertaken by CRBC.
Kenyan President William Ruto and Chinese Minister Counsellor Zhang Yijun jointly inaugurated the project.
President William Ruto operated an excavator to lay the project's foundation stone and planted seedlings symbolizing longevity for the sports stadium. In his speech, he emphasized that the Talanta Sports City is a crucial step for Kenya to become a major sporting country and internationalize its sports development, as the project will further drive regional development, create employment, and serve the community.
The main stadium of Talanta Sports City is a FIFA-standard football stadium with a seating capacity of 60,000 (also suitable for rugby matches). The opening and closing ceremonies of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be held at this stadium.
The stadium will become a new landmark in Kenya, catering to a variety of events including comprehensive and specialized sports competitions. Additionally, it will serve as the primary venue for citizens' recreational activities including fitness and entertainment.
