Recently, the research program on construction equipment for super-large and ultra-deep vertical shaft, which was completed by CCCC Tianhe Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd., CCCC First Highway Engineering Group Co., Ltd., and CCCC Second Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. has successfully passed expert's evaluation and acceptance.

The project team has independently developed an ultra-large and ultra-deep open-type vertical hard rock tunnel boring machine (TBM) for the first time, which realizes the completion of a large-diameter vertical shaft in hard rock stratum, and has the function of synchronous supporting operations. The project team has developed a construction method suitable for super-large and ultra-deep hard rock TBM, developed a multi-adaptive tapered cutterhead, and proposed a new tool layout and selection method for vertical shaft tunneling construction. Besides, the mud-water circulation vertical slag discharge technology was used for the first time to solve the problem of slag discharge in ultra-deep shafts. The project team has also developed a domestically-made high-precision vertical guidance system and an intelligent drilling system to realize fully automatic intelligent tunneling, high-precision control of the drilling rig and real-time adjustment. The expert group agreed that the project is highly innovative and has completely independent intellectual property rights. The super-large and ultra-deep vertical shaft construction equipment, namely, the open-type vertical hard rock TBM and relevant technology, has reached advanced world standard in general. Among all the new technologies in the project, the tapered cutterhead and the mud-water circulation vertical slag discharge technology have topped the world.

The super-large and ultra-deep open-type vertical hard rock TBM "Shouchuang" independently developed by the project team has been successfully used in the ventilation shaft project of Tianshan Shengli tunnel in Xinjiang.
