On June 30, the Yuli-Qiemo Highway of the S254 line of the Xinjiang Wuwei Highway Package PPP Project constructed by CCCC was opened to traffic. Connecting Yuli and Qiemo counties, the Yuqie Highway is located in the Tarim Basin and crosses the hinterland of the Taklimakan, China's largest desert. It is 334 kilometers in length, of which nearly 92% runs through the desert. With the most widely distributed mobile sand dunes in the world, its construction was tremendously difficult.
After the opening, the travel time from Qiemo to Korla is slashed from 12 hours to 6 hours, improving the travel experience for local residents and boosting the development of local tourism.
