On July 1, accompanied by Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the construction site of the Hong Kong section of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the construction of Runway 3 of the Hong Kong International Airport.

Xi noted that constructing Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a major move of the central government to support the better development of Hong Kong, Macao and the Pearl River Delta, as well as the major result of the close cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao under "one nation, two systems". He expected the constructors to advance future work to ensure that the bridge is open to traffic and operates safely. The central government supports the construction of Runway 3 of the Hong Kong International Airport to consolidate the position of Hong Kong as an international air hub, maintain and enhance its overall competitiveness. He hope that the project will be implemented safely and efficiently, and produce the greatest benefit after its completion.

CCCC has fully participated in the two major infrastructural projects in Hong Kong inspected by Xi. CCCC undertook more than 70 percent of engineering quantities of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Hong Kong section includes the Hong Kong connection line of the bridge, the reclamation works of Hong Kong port, Hong Kong port-vehicle clearance square, auxiliary structures and facilities, Phase 1 of the infrastructural works of Hong Kong port, etc. All works will be completed in late 2017.

The land reclamation project of Runway 3 of the Hong Kong International Airport, undertaken by CCCC, involves land formation measuring some 650 hectares, seawall construction measuring some 15 kilometers, etc. CCCC also undertook the construction of Section 4 of Runway 3 DCM Project. Now the project is being advanced in a standardized and orderly manner.
