Sydney Metro Stage 2 is won by John Holland with contract value of AUD 2,800 million


A consortium comprising John Holland and world-renowned companies has recently won the bid for Sydney Metro Stage 2, with a total contract value of AUD 2,810 million. John Holland holds a stake of 45 percent. The owner is Transport for NSW under the New South Wales (NSW) Government.

Sydney Metro Stage 2, the extension of Sydney Metro Stage 1, will significantly improve Sydney's public transport. As the most important civil construction package of the project, the contract package involves the design and construction of 15.5 kilometers of tunnels and the construction of six metro stations, including the construction of the first rail tunnel of Port Jackson. With a construction period of about 4.5 years, the project is scheduled to commence in June and be completed in 2021.

Sydney Metro Stage 2 is another major project won by John Holland in the first half of this year after it won the bid for West Gate Tunnel Project with a contract value of AUD 5,500 million. John Holland has recently delivered the civil works of Sydney Metro Stage 1. John Holland will continue to employ its world leading tunnel technology and rich local construction experience, and work with the NSW Government to advance this major project through its sustainable design scheme and open procurement strategy.
