Third immersed tube for the Dalian Bay Undersea Tunnel installed

The third of the 18 immersed tubes for the Dalian Bay Undersea Tunnel contracted by CCCC in north China’s Liaoning province was floated and installed on the seabed on April 25. The whole process took 14 hours, creating the record for the shortest immersed tube floating and installation time in China. This 180m-long immersed tube weighs about 60,000 tons, has a width of 33.4m and height of 9.7m. The Dalian Bay Undersea Tunnel is the first cross-sea tunnel in northern China. The 5.1-km structure will greatly relieve the heavy traffic congestion from north to south of Dalian after completion.
