A 6,800-ton arch rib was lifted 300 meters above the Yellow River in Jinan, east China’s Shandong Province with the efforts of CCCC constructors, marking the successful joining with high precision of the 420-meter-long main arch ribs of the Qilu Yellow River Bridge. The entire bridge is 6,742 meters long and the main bridge is 1,170 meters long. With eight lanes in two ways, the structure integrates both highway and railway functions on a single deck. The bridge has a main span of 420 meters and width of 60.7 meters, setting a world record for bridges of its kind. After completion it will greatly shorten the travel time across the Yellow River in Jinan, improve the city’s transportation layout and promote the regional economic development.
