No.5 berth launched at the port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania
The No.5 berth was recently launched at the port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Leonard Chamuriho, Minister for Works and Transport of Tanzania at the ceremony fully recognized the achievements of the project in terms of safety and quality management and expressed gratitude to our subsidiary CHEC for its efforts and outstanding performance in the port’s construction amid the ongoing global health crisis.
As the busiest port of Tanzania, the port of Dar es Salaam handles about 95% of the country’s cargo. The CHEC-contracted Dar es Salaam Harbour No. 1-7 Berths Reconstruction and Expansion Project will increase the port’s annual throughput by 26% to 17.65 million tons. Launch of the berth indicates the project construction has entered the final stretch and lays a solid foundation for follow-up work and completion of the project.
