Bridge stands dazzling above the Jialing River in southwest China’s Chongqing
The Zengjiayan Jialing River Bridge colored “China red” stands dazzling above the Jialing River in southwest China’s Chongqing. Built by CCCC, the 540-km-long bridge includes two levels with the upper level for motor vehicles and pedestrians which has been opened to traffic recently, and the lower reserved for the Chongqing Metro Line 10. It is China’s first road-rail bridge that has an on-bridge rail transit station. It will reduce the travel time between Yubei and Yuzhong districts from 40 to 10 minutes, and help relieve the traffic pressure of other existing bridges above the river.
Erection of the steel truss girders of the bridge had to cross the metro line 2 in operation. In order not to disrupt the line’s normal operation, the team set a suspended platform below, ensuring not a single screw or punch dropped. And it also carried out large hoisting and erection work off the line’s operation hours.
