World’s largest caisson foundation sunk to the desired depth
The steel open caisson of the No.5 underwater foundation of Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, world’s largest caisson foundation under construction by CCCC, has been sunk to the desired depth of 65 meters recently, which will provide support for the bridge’s superstructure. The No.5 underwater foundation is one of the two main piers of the main channel bridge. The open caisson has a length of 95 m and width of 57.8 m, the size of 13 basketball courts.
Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, 1,176 meters in span in east China’s Jiangsu Province, is a 5.3-km-long cross-river passage that is composed of expressways on the upper level and highways and intercity railways on the lower level over the Yangtze River. Find out in the video how CCCC constructors dropped the gigantic open caisson in the river accurately.
