Wugongtai-Karamay Expressway opens to traffic

The S20 Wugongtai-Karamay Expressway partly built by the CCCC in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was opened to traffic recently, reducing the travel time between Urumqi and Karamay by two hours. The project stretches 206.7 km in total, of which the CCCC undertook construction of about 82 km. It will further improve Xinjiang’s expressway network and also make it easier for local farmers to transport their local specialties out such as grapes, honeydew melons and long stapled cotton.
