Shuidong Bay Bridge completes closure

Closure of the Shuidong Bay Bridge, the first cross-sea bridge in Maoming, south China’s Guangdong Province, has been completed recently, laying a solid foundation for the bridge project to open for traffic by the end of 2020.
The project designed and built by CCCC includes construction of the cross-sea bridge and connecting facilities, spanning nearly 6.61 km, of which the cross-sea bridge is about 3.33 km. The main bridge is a concrete girder cable-stayed bridge with two pylons and double cable planes, spanning 628 meters in length. The main towers stand 125 meters above the Shuidong Bay, resembling a pair of white shells. As an important channel connecting the eastern and western banks of the bay, the project will improve the city’s traffic network as well as its potential for development.
