2nd immersed tube of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan River-crossing Link Project connected
CCCC has put the second immersed tube of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan River-crossing Link Project on the seabed and connected with the first one recently in south China’s Guangdong Province. It marks the construction of the world’s first two-way eight-lane immersed tunnel entering (into) the “fast lane”.
The standard tube has a length of 165 m, width of 46 m, height of 10.6 m and weight of 77,000 tons. CCCC rose to the challenge and overcame problems such as technological difficulties and construction conditions in order to successfully fulfill the mission.
Twenty-four km in length, the project involves the construction of an immersed tunnel including 32 immersed tubes and is scheduled to welcome traffic in 2024. It will slash the travel time between the two cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan from 2 hours to 20 minutes or so.
