The main cables of the 1.1-km-long Yangbaoshan Bridge were recently erected several hundred meters high in the sky in Southwest China’s Guizhou Province.
The six-lane single-span steel girder suspension bridge, as part of the Guiyang-Huangping Highway, has a total length of 1.1km and a main span of 650m. The two cables of the bridge are composed of over 20,000 steel wires, weighing nearly 4,600 tons.CCCC used the Air Spinning (AS) method, which provided an ideal solution to carrying out such erection works for long-span bridges in mountainous areas at a relatively low cost. It is the first time this method is used for the cable erection of a suspension bridge in China.
