Joy is a local employee of the CHEC-contracted Dar es Salaam Harbour No. 1-7 Berths Reconstruction and Expansion Project in Tanzania. She joined CHEC four years ago and is now working in human resources.
Talking about those years working with CHEC, Joy says the company treats its employees fairly and always does good things to local people. There is one thing that impressed her deeply, she says. The company once held a family open day for the project on the International Children's Day. "I took part in the preparation work for the event," she recalls. "And many kids came on the day. I fed them with cakes. I can still remember the smiles on their faces."
Joy says the company did not only build a first-rate wharf in Tanzania but also enriched local people's lives. "I like working here, and I will work harder to build my own country."
